The Center for Academic Success has created the Dr. Saundra Yancy McGuire Scholarship in honor of the accomplishments and the impact that Dr. McGuire has had on the Center, the LSU community and students. This scholarship will be awarded to an S.I. leader who embodies key characteristics displayed by Dr. McGuire: leadership, service, scholarship, and love of learning and teaching. Dr. Saundra Y. McGuire retired from LSU on June 30, 2013, after serving the university for fourteen years. For ten of those years she served as the Director of the Center for Academic Success (CAS), a unit that received national and international acclaim during her tenure as director, and continues to garner accolades and awards.
Please consider donating to this fund as it supports the Supplemental Instruction Program at LSU which serves over 6,000 LSU students per year and has over 20,000 session visits per year. LSU students who attend 3 or more S.I. sessions earn a .5 letter grade higher than students who do not attend S.I. This fund will not only help pay the salaries of deserving S.I. leaders it will also provide them with an additional award of $200 per semester they are an S.I. leader. It also supports the academic and personal success of all LSU students.
